Fravashis

Fravashis
In Zoroastrian myth the guardian ancestor spirits of the believers. They data back to the very earliest periods and are specifically omitted from the Dathas, or fundamental statements of doctrine in the Zend-Avesta. They constitute a form of Ancestor Worship and are of interest as they show a stage in the process whereby the great ones of the past acquire divine or semi-divine rank.
